Pediatric Eyecare

It’s never too early to get a professional opinion about your child’s vision and eye health. At Primary Eyecare & Optical of Meridian, we welcome every member of the family, including children of all ages who need pediatric eye care.

Child Eyecare Services
If you need an eye doctor for your child, the eye care and vision specialists at Primary Eyecare & Optical of Meridian are here to help. Our pediatric optometrists have years of experience with children’s vision and eye health care. We want to ensure that your child’s eyes are protected for years to come. Our pediatric eye care services include pediatric eye exams, treatments or common vision and eye conditions, and corrective eyewear that is designed to withstand the wear and tear of childhood.
Yearly Eye Exams

Eye health and vision plays an important role in everyday life and overall quality of life. Vision problems may impact your child’s academic and athletic performance, while untreated eye conditions may lead to permanent eye damage without proper treatment. Even if your child has no noticeable vision problems, we recommend annual eye exams for all of our pediatric patients in Meridian.

In addition to diagnosing your child’s vision conditions, our pediatric eye exams may reveal the early symptoms of eye conditions or health problems that need treatment. If our optometrists detect conditions or injury in the early stages, we will recommend the proper treatment and prevent permanent eye or vision damage.

Vision Tests
Vision screenings at your child’s primary pediatrician’s office are not substitutes for a full medical vision test. Our eye doctors take a comprehensive look at your child’s eyes, testing for visual acuity, focusing, eye tracking, depth of field, peripheral vision, and color identification. Children with poor vision may not realize their eyesight is different from other children’s. Our eye exams aren’t limited to near-sightedness or far-sightedness as we look to incorporate a more comprehensive pediatric eye exam.
Symptoms of Vision Problems
Visit the eye care specialists at Primary Eyecare and Optical of Meridian if your child frequently rubs their eyes, shows extreme light sensitivity, has focusing problems or blurry vision, poor object tracking, misalignment of the eyes, unusual eye movements, frequent red eyes, excessive tearing, or anything that concerns you about your child’s eyes or visual ability.
When Vision Conditions Look Like Behavioral Problems
Oftentimes, common vision problems go untreated because teachers and parents mistake them for behavioral problems. If your child is making careless errors in the classroom or failing to pay proper attention in class, we will perform a comprehensive vision test to see if poor vision skills, rather than poor concentration skills, are to blame. Don’t wait for poor grades or teacher observations to get your child the vision help they need. At Primary Eyecare & Optical of Meridian, we give your child a proper diagnosis once and for all.
